The team will look to get their season started in a positive manner when they kick off at 12.15pm in their opening City Central Division Two fixture.

Last season saw the team come up against many strong teams in Division One - and at times they were overwhelmed with the fast-flowing, attacking style that these clubs possessed. However, a number of impressive victories towards the end of the season mean that the team have a reason to hopeful for the upcoming season.

In the new league, VMFC2 will come against a lot of new teams and they will be eager to show that they can put in a run of consistent and positive performances - an opportunity that was denied to them last season. They do however face familiar foes in New East Manchester A, New East Manchester B and Manchester Club Football II and will be looking to right the wrongs of last season.

The team are also in GFSN Cup action early in the season when they take on Newcastle Panthers in the north east at the start of October. As previous cup winners, VMFC2 are eager to have a good cup run this year and will be looking to set the record straight after Newcastle knocked them out of the cup a few seasons ago.

With a packed season coming up, VMFC2 manager Matt Hall is excited for the season ahead. He said: "Last season was testing at times but I am full of hope and expectation this time round. We have a regular nucleus of players that will compliment well with a number of new additions that have joined the club over the summer.

"Competition for places should be quite fierce and I am sure that this challenge will spur the team on to achieve great things this season."
