With two months of the season already over we thought it would be a good point to look back at the season so far.

And what a start it has been for the first team! Following last season's mid table league finish the team has come out all guns blazing in the league and has won four and drew one of their five games so far - hitting 25 in the process. It should also be noted that they have the stingiest defensive record as well.

 

In addition to this, the team has progressed through to the next round of the FA County Cup - a competition in which Village is making its debut in this year.

 

Following an opening day draw against Sporting Manchester, Village have registered four consecutive wins - a 2-1 win against Deloitte, a 5-1 victory over Saints, an 8-0 thumping of Iraq FC and a 7-2 win against Lawds. Their victory on penalties over Stretford Victoria in the Cup means that they have a second round game to look forward to at the end of November.

 

In addition to the results being positive, the performances that have gone in have got better as the season has worn on. With James Wilson and Jez Ure keeping things tight at the back the rest of the team have been able to express themselves and take the game to the opposition. Sam Connell and Alex Wilson have been both tenacious and inventive in the middle of the park and this has allowed the wingers and Pauls Carter and Golds up front to cause trouble for opposition defences.

 

November sees Village come up against their sternest test of the season as they face current league leaders South Manchester on the first weekend of the month. The rest of the month sees them come up against Sporting Manchester, Deloitte and Saints for the second time this season.

 

With Village sitting in third position in the league and in the next round of the cup it looks like the next few months could be an interesting time for the team.
