VMFC plans early summer tours

4 March 2014

Village Manchester are pleased to announce that the club will be visiting Leeds and Cardiff this summer to take part in tournaments.

The club will head to Yorkshire on 24 May to take part in the GFSN Summer Tournament. The club has taken part in many of the GFSN Summer Tournaments over the years and will be looking to field a number of teams in the five-a-side competition before heading out to sample the Leeds nightlife.

On the same weekend a number of Village Manchester players will be taking part in a Five Nations tournament – a special addition to the weekend as part of the GFSN’s 25th anniversary celebrations. The tournament will see some players from the attending clubs putting their name forward for a place in one of the five ‘nations’ – England, Scotland, Wales, combined Ireland and a Rest of the World team. There will be a draw to see which players play for their chosen nation but with national pride at stake it is shaping up to be an exciting weekend.

Then, a few weeks later, the club will travel to the Welsh capital to compete in the Unity Cup from 12-15 June. The Cup is being held as part of Cardiff's hosting of the European City of Sport. Host team Cardiff Dragons will welcome numerous clubs from far and wide to south Wales and, as the tournament spans four days, there is a lot of time for both football and for drinking!

Trips to Cardiff have been few and far between for Village as the clubs have rarely crossed paths in tournaments or in the GFSN Cup.

But with a European title to our name following our last trip abroad (thanks Dublin!), Village will be travelling down south with a lot of hope, optimism and confidence.
