VMFC tours in 2015

30 October 2014

Village Manchester has a proud history of travelling abroad and having a good time both on and off the pitch. Next year the club is planning trips to Hamburg to take part in the IGLFA European Championships and to Stockholm for the EuroGames - both competitions of which we are the champions!

First up it is the IGLFA European Championships which take place from 11-14 June in Germany’s second largest city – Hamburg. The location for the tournament is the Startschuss SLSV sports club (next to Hamburg FC stadium) and this will be where over 30 teams across two divisions - with more than 400 participants – are expected to join the tournament.

Village won the previous competition in Dublin in the summer of 2013 where they saw off fierce rivals Stonewall on their way to defeating their Irish hosts 2-1 in the final.

Less than two months later, the club will also be heading to the capital of Sweden – Stockholm – to take part in the EuroGames Tournament from 3-10 August.

EuroGames is a multisport competition with 5,000 participants expected to take part in Scandanavia’s most populous city.

Village again are the holders in this competition after they defeated a combined Kingkickers Italia and Cargo Lyon side 1-0 at the 18,000 capacity Vasas SC Stadium in Budapest, Hungary in 2012.

Any club member that has been on one of the foreign trips has stories to tell of victories on the pitch and incidents off the pitch that make the trips away unforgettable.

Village Manchester is encouraging as many of their members as possible to get involved in either, or both, of the trips. With new teams to play, new cities to explore and new experiences to… experience, it is something that should definitely not be missed!
