AGM and 20th anniversary party

6 May 2016

The club held its Annual General Meeting on Friday 6 May where the new committee was selected. This new committee will take the club forward into the 2016-2017 season.

The majority of last season’s committee members were elected to stay on for the current season but there are a couple of new faces and some members have moved position.

James Toland and John Bridges have swapped roles with Bridges returning as Chairman and Toland becoming Manchester Pride Co-ordinator. Sam Hardstaff takes over the Club Secretary role vacated by Bridges’ move to Chairman and Paul Hammond was appointed in the newly created role of Miami Tour Co-ordinator.

The roles of Treasurer, Written Communications Officer, Visual Communications Officer, Social Secretary, Deputy Treasurer (Subs) and Recruitment Officer & Players’ Rep remain with the same individuals as the previous season.

List of executive (voting) committee members for the 2016-2017 season:

  • Chairman: John Bridges

  • Treasurer: Steve Joyce

  • Secretary: Sam Hardstaff

  • Social Secretary: Craig Orrock

  • Written Communications Officer: Rob McPherson

  • Visual Communications Officer: Steve Joyce

  • Recruitment Officer & Players’ Rep: Alex West

  • Miami Tour Co-ordinator: Paul Hammond

List of non-voting Committee members:

  • Deputy Treasurer (Subs): Rob McPherson

  • Manchester Pride Coordinator: James Toland

The Committee roles of First Team Manager and Second Team Manager are appointed by the Committee rather than being elected by the members, and remain unchanged as Steve Clayton and Rob McPherson stay on. It was recently decided that the club coaches should also join the Committee in a non-voting capacity. Second Team Coach Alex West is already on the Committee and we welcome James Wilson as First Team Coach.

After the AGM we partied long into the night (no change there for a Friday night!) to celebrate 20 years of the Club. New York New York played host and did us proud, and we were delighted to welcome back former chair and BBC celeb Graham Liver as compere for the evening. With Fanny Burns providing her own fabulous drag show and free food and booze courtesy of NYNY, it was a great evening!
