RIP AJ

30 October 2015

The club was gutted to hear of the death of one of our former player in October - Andrew Johnson 'AJ' Beavis.

AJ played for the club for a couple of years and was in action for us as recently as last season. A leg injury meant that he has not been around the club for a few months but there are a lot of the current club’s players and supporters that remember him well – either from nights out or from on the pitch.

The club remembers AJ as one of the nicest, sweetest, loveliest guys you could hope to meet. He was funny, lively, vivacious, warm, camp, a great dancer, a great player and a great team mate. He will be sorely missed by all his mates in Manchester and in Leeds and Nottingham where he also played.

Here are a selection of thoughts from people who knew him from VMFC:

Peter – “A lovely guy - I for one will miss him”

James C – “A really top lad, he'll definitely be missed”

Colin – “He made a big impression on me how good he was …a really good lad”

James T - “Entertaining, lively and a much loved member of the club”

Juan - “An amazing lad”

James – “He was the guy doing what I wanted to be able to do on the pitch…he was just too lovely”

Samuel – “A real gent”

Rob – “Always had a smile on his face…a much better player than he thought he was”

AJ’s family has set up a JustGiving page to raise money towards funeral costs and a send-off and memorial befitting of him. If you would like to donate anything then please visit https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/AJs-memorial-fund-1

AJ – you will be missed.
