Football v Homophobia is an international initiative opposing homophobia in football at all levels - from grassroots to the professional game. During February, clubs across the UK took part in FvH events. VMFC attended the City v Spurs match at the Etihad Stadium where our secretary and long time City fan John Bridges took part in some silly games. And won!

The aim of FvH is for football to take a clear stand against homophobia so that everyone can enjoy the beautiful game and so that football leads the way in removing discrimination and prejudice based on gender identity and sexual orientation.

 

At the City Spurs game, both teams of players wore FvH T-shirts, there were the half time games, and outside there were anti-discrimination presentations. 

 

Campaign director Lou Englefield says:

 

“Having the support of big clubs like Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur during our Month of Action is fantastic. It helps us reach a global community of football supporters with our campaign message that football is for everyone.”
