First team looks forward to new season

31 August 2016

Village Manchester Football Club is getting set to embark upon its 21st league campaign since its formation in 1996! Many exciting steps have been taken over the summer post-season period: a change in league, a new (and returning!) chairman at the helm of the club as well as a new first team manager, a step up in league for the 2nd team in the GFSN and, most excitingly, a brand new sponsorship deal with Linten Technologies! VMFC are set to enjoy a fantastic 2016/17 season.

After 20 years competing regularly in a Manchester Sunday Amateur league, Village Manchester took the decision this summer to move the first team to a bigger, more competitive set up that plays its games on a Saturday afternoon. In order to push the club further forward and reach even higher standards, VMFC will be competing in the Lancashire and Cheshire Amateur Football League going forward. The season kicks off on Saturday 3 September and the change means playing games across the North West including trips to venues such as Didsbury, Old Trafford… and Stalybridge!

First team manager, Jay McNaught, said “This is an exciting time for Village Manchester both on and off the field. With the first team now placing itself in an even more competitive football environment; this can only help the players test themselves against better quality opponents and, in turn, improve their own ability on the pitch.

“We are looking forward to working hard and making it a successful season for the club. I look forward to welcoming both existing and new players back into the club and seeing our great support from the sidelines continue. Bring on the new season!”

Finally, VMFC are proud to have linked up with locally based IT support company Linten Technologies. Linten make IT simple and Village Manchester are delighted to be working with a gay owned company who are committed to helping the club achieve success in football in the North West and beyond. Check out the lovely Linten logo adorning VMFC’s new kits for the 2016/2017 season.

VMFC looks forward to welcoming you all to the club in the coming season whether as a player, supporter or volunteer. Get in touch with the club at enquiries@vmfc.co.uk.
