Both teams had two games each during December and it was a mixed set of results for the boys.

The first team had three league games scheduled for the month with the opening one set for 3 December. However, a last minute cancellation by the opposition, Bedians Reserves, meant that the team did not take to the pitch. They were rewarded the victory though thanks to the opposition's forfeit to start the month off with three points.

 

The following Saturday the boys did get onto the field as they hosted league leaders Abacus Media at Wythenshawe. Village held their own against the opposition and entered the half time break with the game goalless. Four goals did find the back of the net in the second half however and all of them were scored by Abacus Media - three in the Village net and one in their own.

 

The first team concluded the calendar year with an away game Milton Reserves at Heywood Sport Village. The home side entered the second half with a 1-0 lead but a crazy 45 minutes saw six more goals scored. The home side got two of these goals but strikes from Wilson and Nunes and a brace from Mooney saw Village finish 2016 with a 4-3 win and three vital points.

 

The second team faced two games in two different competitions in December.
First up they faced Leicester Wildecats in the Northern Cup at Blackpool & Fylde College in Bispham. It was a high scoring game with nine goals shared between the teams. Leicester took the lead four times throughout the game but each time Village pegged them back and with around 10 minutes left the boys from the North West scored the all-important and decisive ninth goal. What was even more impressive was that Village had five different scorers in D Hayes, Sykes, Clayton, S Shaw and Gibson.

 

The other game saw the boys face regular foes Yorkshire Terriers in the M62 Unite League. The game started off well with Gibson opening the scoring with a penalty and things remained equal right up to the half time break. Things fell apart in the second half however with Yorkshire banging the goals in to register a 7-1 victory.
